Lifestyle diseases: Types of lifestyle diseases and common triggers

Nowadays lifestyle diseases have started affecting kids as well. Technology has played a huge role in more uncommon diseases unheard off during our grandparent’s teenage days. Video games, laptops and other technological factors have made people if this generation to be less physical in their activities.

Unlike reputable diseases like  malaria, cholera which can be managed via proper treatment; there are lifestyle diseases which can be prevented.

 Types of lifestyle disease

Obesity-It is mainly caused by unhealthy habits, stressful lifestyle and reduced physical activity. Being obese can affect your health with common symptoms such as breathing problems, blood pressure, diabetes etc. Obesity can be avoided by improving your lifestyle through exercising and eating proper healthy foods.

Heart Disease-Heart disease may occur as a result of unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking, eating food with high cholesterol etc.

High blood pressure-Common causes of blood pressure include obesity, stress, depression, unhealthy eating habits. High blood pressure can have adverse effects on your body hence it is important to watch your health by eating proper diet, exercising and meditating.

Cancer-Cancer is one of the most common and deadliest diseases in the world. It is mainly caused by the stressful lifestyles that we lead whereby our body’s immune system is weakened. Such factors that can lead to cancer include smoking which can lead to lung cancer and too much exposure to skin which can lead to skin cancer.

Type II diabetes-Common causes of type II diabetes include obesity which occurs as a result of poor eating and bad eating lifestyle choices.

Stroke-It occurs as a result of high blood pressure where the blood vessels carrying blood to the brain has a blockage leading to an oxygen deficiency resulting in a stroke.

Cirrhosis-This is a group of liver disorders caused by the severe consumption of alcohol and chronic hepatitis.
